Rolls-Royce is all for luxury and definitely not into motorsport, but here’s the most sporty vehicle tackling the most grueling track of them all: The Nurburgring.

With a 6,592 cc engine under the bonnet, developing 624 hp and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, the Goodwood-based car maker’s four seat coupe is a the most powerful and agile Rolls Royce ever made.

Even so, it’s far from the idea of a circuit-munching automobile, especially as it weighs 2,440 kg (5,379.3 lb). Granted, it may accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds thanks to its twin turbo V12, but you the Wraith is not a car you’d chose to take on the Nordschleife.

Which begs the question, why is it there in the first place? Could it be that this is a very early test car for the Series II model? Maybe, maybe not. It’s not uncommon to push cars beyond their comfort zone during testing – yes, even a Rolls. Moreover, the blue coupe in the video could test how an uprated engine and suspension settings would cope with its satellite-aided transmission.
