Audi, Porsche Report New US Heights In August, VW Sales Drop Again

Audi continues its record sales streak in the United States for the 68th (!) consecutive month by announcing the best-ever numbers in the brand’s local history.

Unaffected by the cheating emissions scandal, deliveries have piled up to 19,264 units last month, up 2.5 percent over August 2015, while the company’s year-to-date sales have risen by 3.5 percent, to 134,562 examples. Audi’s best-sellers were the Q5, A3, A4, Q7, and Q3, in this order.

With total sales of 5,181 last month, up 3.5 percent, Porsche Cars North America enjoy their increased popularity, led by the Macan, with 2,304 units, Cayenne, with 1,209 examples and 911, selected by 749 customers, while year-to-date, the company has delivered 35,767 cars, up 2.6 percent from the previous year.

I am tremendously appreciative of the consistent effort put forth by our dealer partners in helping us achieve year-to-date sales growth. I look forward to continued success as the Porsche brand pushes the envelope to create great products for our customers“, said Porsche Cars North America’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Klaus Zellmer.

While sister brands Audi and Porsche have managed to become more popular in the States in 2016, Volkswagen Passenger Cars has posted a 9.12 percent drop last month, when 29,384 vehicles were delivered. The Jetta has been chosen by 11,720 customers, while another 7,389 went for the Passat and 4,840 for the entire Golf family. The Tiguan was welcomed in 3,302 homes, while its larger sibling, the Touareg, was sold in just 367 units.

Year-to-date, sales of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars plunged by almost 13 percent, from 238,074 to 207,156 units. The Jetta was the best-seller of the family, followed by Passat and Golf.
