Despite its head-turning exterior looks, the Jaguar XE’s interior has some catching up to do compared to the competition, says Consumer Reports.

Some of the materials used throughout the cabin look out of place, and are not on par with the brand’s legacy, while the rear seat is very cramped. These flaws led Consumer Reports to describe it as a “cramped cubicle”, rather than a “corner office”.

Still, the car has some interesting features, such as the attractive exterior design, which, combined with the sharp handling and comfortable ride that could be on the stiff side for some, give it additional credits over rivals, such as the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4.

Jaguar offers buyers a selection of gasoline and diesel engines, which in turn can be combined with either rear- or four-wheel drive.

The entry-level 2018 Jaguar XE can be had from $35,725 in the USA, which makes it $825 more expensive than the base BMW 3-Series, $275 more affordable than the 2018 Audi A4, and $4,525 cheaper than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
