The second generation of the Nissan Leaf is already on sale in some markets, including the United States, where the brand’s local arm has launched an online configurator.
Available here, it allows users to select between one of three trim levels, called S, SV, and SL, with slightly different equipment between them, but still sharing the same electric motor, battery pack, horsepower and range.
The family kicks off with the S, which can be had from $29,990, and gets standard equipment such as the e-Pedal, automatic emergency braking, 7.0-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display and automatic climate control.
Priced from $32,490, the 2018 Leaf SV adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a quick charge port, Nissan Navigation System, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Intelligent Cruise Control.
Finally, the range-topping SL gets Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Around View Monitor, leather seats, Bose premium sound system, portable charge cable, and LED headlights with LED DRLs, and is priced from $36,200.
The maximum range of the zero-emission hatch on a single charge is 150 miles (241km). Fast charging the new Leaf from a domestic or public 240V for one hour allows the car to travel for up to 22 miles (35km), while using the 50kW fastest charging station for 30 minutes increases the range to a maximum of 88 miles (142km).
