Russians have a thing for classic Volgas mixed with relatively modern BMW parts, at least some of them as examples of this unholy union have been finding their way online for quite some time now.

The car we have here is a genuine head scratcher as we couldn’t figure out exactly what it is; it looks like a wider, two-door version of the classic GAZ Volga 21 with an overhauled interior that uses a lot of BMW parts and acres of quilted leather.

This, erm, unique creation is offered for sale in auto.ru for the price of $80,000 (5 million ruble). With the usage of online translation, the description says that the car is a BMW 5-Series underneath but doesn’t specify much more.

After comparing a few images, we think that whoever built this one-of-a-kind coupe must have used an E34 5-Series that was chopped and dressed with a custom bodywork made to resemble the Russian classic.

Inside we get a full custom interior lavished in white leather and bright wood trim. We couldn’t really pinpoint the origins of the heavily modified dashboard but if we had to guess we would say it originally came from an E38 7-Series. Other touches like the dual-zone air-conditioning controls appear to have come from an E34.

The car is fitted with a manual gearbox and the ad says it’s powered by a 2.5-liter petrol which should mean that there’s a straight-six engine under the bonnet.

What do you think? Have we guessed right all the components on this fine moment in automotive history? Sound off in the comments.
