For those of us who enjoy putting things together and never really out-grew complex LEGO products, we can purchase a 1:8 scale Bugatti hypercar for just under $350 in the U.S. Just make sure you have a few days in front of you to build it.
The LEGO Technic Chiron can be ordered today from any LEGO store as well as from their online marketplace, while global retailers are expected to get it from August 1st, 2018. The model has no fewer than 3,599 pieces and was developed in partnership with Bugatti.
“I am very excited about this new model. Our LEGO designers have done an amazing job capturing the details of this iconic Bugatti design. It truly stands as testament that with LEGO bricks you can build anything you can imagine, and an example that with LEGO Technic, you can build for real,” stated LEGO Group CEO, Niels B. Christiansen.
Meanwhile, Bugatti president Stephan Winkelmann said that he is “impressed at the precision and refinement with which our super sports car has been translated into the LEGO world and I am sure that fans of both LEGO bricks and Bugatti will love this product.”
The car stands 5″ (14 cm) tall, is 22″ (56 cm) long and has a width of 9″ (25 cm). It’s also packed full of intricate pieces such as the active rear wing, movable gearshift paddles for the 8-speed gearbox, and a detailed W16 engine with moving pistons.
Each model features its own unique serial number, which you can then use to unlock special content on the LEGO Technic official website. The set also comes with a speed key which you can use to switch the active rear wing from its handling, to its top speed position. The attention to detail doesn’t stop there though, as you’ll also find Bugatti’s stylish overnight bag hidden discreetly under the hood.
