The world record for the most balloons popped using a laser was previously held by a human. Until recently, that is, because BMW beat that person with the new M2 Competition.

Filmed in what seems to be an old warehouse located in the United Kingdom, the record was broken a couple of weeks ago. However, the Bavarian carmaker just finished editing the video and released it online, thus giving fans something new to talk about with their friends.

The actual car that broke the record did it with a laser mounted on its double kidney grille. The target was popping more than 63 balloons a minute, and it easily beat the previous record by destroying no less than 79 balloons.

Not a bad performance for the two-door coupe that has 410PS (405hp / 301kW) and 550Nm (406lb-ft) of torque, from a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six engine.

Offered with a six-speed manual or a seven speed auto, the former needs 4.2sec to reach 60mph (96km/h) from a standstill, while the latter is 0.2sec quicker. Top speed in both models is electronically capped at 155mph (250km/h), but it can be raised to 174mph (280km/h) with the M Driver’s Package that’s available on the options list.
