A handful of impatient drivers got a cup of instant karma on their afternoon commute as you can see in this dashcam video.
Apparently taken in Virginia, the clip shows gridlock on the highway. The drivers seems pretty patient at first, but that quickly changes once a Jeep Grand Cherokee decides to pass everyone on the right hand shoulder.
The Jeep is quickly followed by a Volvo, a construction van and a BMW X5. Even the Ford Focus in front of the dashcam vehicle decides to get in on the action.
The video then skips ahead and shows police have pulled over eight drivers including all of the vehicles mentioned above. They were also joined by a Honda Accord, Kia Soul and Ford Ranger.
There’s no word what tickets the drivers received, but the law office of Dulaney Lauer Thomas says illegal shoulder use is a moving violation and tickets can range from $25 (£19 / €22) to $150 (£113 / €132), depending on the circumstances.
Given the circumstances in this case, drivers shouldn’t expect much leniency as they interfered with an active accident scene where an SUV driver lost control and slammed into a tree. This, of course, is a bad move and drivers should always leave the shoulders open because you never know if an ambulance or another emergency vehicle needs to get through.
