A Lamborghini Huracan split in half in Cairo, Egypt on Saturday and remarkably, the driver apparently didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

Limited details about the crash are known but it appears as though the Italian supercar was traveling on a highway when it crashed. While it is unclear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash, it’s evident that the Lamborghini made contact with something and subsequently snapped in half. An iffy translation of local publication Masrawy reports suggests that the driver may have made a sudden movement with the steering wheel at high-speed.

Images from the scene show that the supercar split in half just behind the passenger cell, leaving the engine, rear axle, and rear bodywork resting on the road. This crash invokes memories of one involving a Lamborghini Aventador in New York a few years ago which split in half after slamming sideways into a tree.

It’s worth pointing out that the Huracan doesn’t appear to have sustained just a single hit on the side. In fact, the very front of the car has been badly damaged and the entire front axle, windshield and one of the doors is missing. Evidently, the exotic suffered from a number of brutal impacts which utterly destroyed the vehicle.

What is particularly remarkable about the crash is that local security forces assert that the driver escaped the crash with nothing but minor bruises. If true, that’s a testament to the safety of the car.

Buying a Lamborghini Huracan in Egypt doesn’t come cheap. In fact, prices start at around 1.5 million riyals ($400,000).
