Restomod projects have taken off in recent years, becoming increasingly popular on both sides on the pond.

Obviously, the choice of classic cars is different in North America compared to Europe but the phenomenon is similar on both continents. One car that we don’t see too often getting a restomod treatment is the Ford Galaxie, but thankfully someone thought about that – if only in the digital realm.

Abimelec Design proposes an interesting transformation of a 1969 Galaxie 500 Fastback model by means of enhanced styling and an engine swap. So what exactly is on the menu, then?

In the looks department, the Ford Galaxie has gained a NASCAR-style two-tone paintwork with a light blue bodywork accented by a red roof and matching wheels. Speaking of the wheels, they are deep dish steelies and they happen to look spot on in this company.

To make room for the chunky rims and tires, the author opened up the wheel arches, with a positive side effect being a meaner look for the big Ford coupe. Also contributing to the aggressive stance is the lowered ride height.

So what’s under the hood of this hypothetical Ford Galaxie restomod? A very contemporary and sophisticated supercharged 5.2-liter V8 sourced from the new Mustang Shelby GT500 – the most powerful and fastest Mustang of all time.

This power plant delivers 760 HP (771 PS) at 7,300 rpm and 625 lb-ft (846 Nm) of torque at 5,000 rpm, distributed to the rear wheels via a Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Is this a match made in heaven or what?
