GMC has released a new teaser video that confirms the upcoming Hummer EV will feature a removable roof.

The company is keeping details under wraps, but said the electric pickup has “easily removable roof panels to provide a unique open-air experience.”

That isn’t much to go on, but the clip suggests the model will be a crew cab pickup with one large removable panel that resides above the front seats. Rear seat passengers can also enjoy an open-air experience, but their view of the sky with be partially blocked by a rollover bar and a central rear support.

The latter was likely done in the name of weatherproofing, but it remains unclear how extensive the treatment will be. While that’s a bit disappointing, previous reports have suggested the removable roof panels can be stored in the frunk when not in use.

GMC has been tight-lipped about the truck’s range, but the model will use Ultium batteries. GM has previously said their battery packs will have capacities ranging from 50 to 200 kWh, and some configurations could provide a range in excess of 400 miles (644 km). The automaker has also confirmed its electric trucks will have 800-volt technology and a 350 kW fast-charging capability.

The GMC Hummer EV was originally slated to be unveiled today, May 20th, but the event was postponed due to the coronavirus. There’s no word on when the model will debut, but GMC said we can expect more news in the “coming months.” Regardless of when the truck is introduced, the model is still scheduled to be launched in the fall of 2021.
