Eight years ago, we brought you something truly horrific – a fiberglass body kit designed to turn Honda Civics into replicas of the Bugatti Veyron.

Despite being ugly as sin and costing $4,500 (£3,712 / €4,163), it appears a handful of people actually bought them.

That brings us to this questionable Bugatti replica that’s listed on eBay with a buy it now price of $4,500 (£3,712 / €4,163). It’s based on a 1993 Honda Civic and features the aforementioned body kit.

The kit does a decent job replicating the front of the Veyron, but there are a handful of issues including a scuffed bumper and a sagging air intake support. However, things quickly go off the rails as the sides of the vehicle bear little resemble to the legendary hypercar.

The situation improves a little bit out back as the rear bumper closely echoes the one used on the Veyron. The model also features four round taillights, but they aren’t fooling anyone.

The cabin largely carries over, but it has reportedly been given $1,600 (£1,320 / €1,479) worth of upgrades. Among the changes are a “custom digital dash” and an aftermarket audio system with four speakers in each door. The model also boasts leather seats with custom “Civic Gatti” embroidery.

Unsurprisingly, there’s no quad turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine under the hood. Instead, the car is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder with a cold air intake and a host of other upgrades.

The car has 74,000 miles (119,091 km) on it and the seller claims to have spent around $12,000 (£9,896 / €11,098) on the vehicle. That’s a decent chunk of money, but the seller says they “did it for fun, conversations, shows and comments.” They also claim a couple of people have stopped to take pictures with the car and ask what year Bugatti it is.
