Four weeks ago, a new Cannonball record was set with a crew driving an Audi A8 L from coast-to-coast in 26 hours and 38 minutes. That record has already been beaten, Ed Bolian from VINwiki claims.

We are living in unprecedented times and a number of people have been using the quiet roads across the United States to attempt new coast-to-coast records.

The previous record set roughly a month ago with the Audi A8 L beat the former record of 27 hours and 25 minutes which itself smashed the record before it set by Ed Bolian and Dave Black in 2013 at 28 hours and 50 minutes. In this new VINwiki video, Bolian reveals that his best time of 28:50 has been beaten no less than seven times in the last five weeks. The best run of them all was completed in less than 26 hours.

Bolian is very mum on specifics about this new record stating that those behind it will soon appear on his show to discuss it while also launching a documentary detailing the record. What he does say is that the sub-26 hours run was highly orchestrated and included a team of more than 30 spotters to ensure the team encountered no run-ins with the authorities.

Bolian says that the team averaged 120 mph (193 km/h) through multiple U.S. states but stopped short of revealing the overall average speed. It is unclear what car the team was using but we should learn more soon.

With traffic steadily increasing to pre-coronavirus levels across much of the United States, Bolian believes that this new Cannonball record could stand for quite some time.
