Say what you will about BMW’s current styling language but there is no denying the fact that it knows how to build some incredible performance machines. Just take a look at the M4 and the M 1000 RR, both of which are featured in this mesmerizing drift battle video.

Powering the bike is an inline four-cylinder engine that is based on the engine used by the old S 1000 RR but has now been upgraded with new pistons, modified combustion chambers, and titanium connecting rods. BMW’s engineers have also increased the compression ratio, installed lighter rocker arms and developed a new titanium exhaust. The M 1000 RR pumps out 209 hp and 83 lb-ft (113 Nm), very impressive figures considering all the noise and emissions regulations it has to comply with in Europe.

By comparison, the BMW M4 is sold with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder that pumps out 503 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque in flagship Competition guise. Those who purchase the entry-level model have 473 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) to play with which is still more than enough to have some fun.
