A yellow Toyota Supra has been crashed during a car meet in Calgary, Alberta in Canada over the weekend.

Video of the crash was shared to Reddit and shows the driver of the Supra accelerating hard along a street where the event was being held. However, the driver soon loses control of the Japanese sports car with the rear-wheels spinning up and it sliding to the left. Unable to control the slide, the driver is left as nothing more than a passenger as the Toyota slams into a curb on the side of the road before coming to a rest in a parking lot.

Based on the impact and the speed at which the Supra was traveling, we suspect the car has been severely damaged. According to the description on the original post, the Supra was a dealership loaner, but it seems that this is might not be the case. Auto Club YEG, which organized the car meet, uploaded a video on their Instagram page explaining that the Supra was theirs and not a loaner – and confirmed that it is, indeed, a write-off.

Having spent quite a lot of time driving the new Toyota Supra ourselves, it seems likely that the driver had completely disengaged all the safety systems when they decided to pin the throttle and spin up the rear tires. A more experienced driver might have probably been able to better manage and control their throttle inputs to avoid spinning out like this.

This video should serve as an important lesson to any overconfident drivers out there that think switching off the stability control on a powerful sports car like the Supra is a good idea, particularly on public roads. Unless you know what you’re doing, it most certainly is not.
