A C5 Chevrolet Corvette unlike any other is turning heads at Monterey Car Week and is one of the most remarkable one-offs you’re ever likely to come across.

This particular Corvette has been extensively modified by a company named Double Trouble Hot Rod and virtually every part of it is new, except for the doors and roof. The car is known as the GT-SSC (SuperSuperCar) and is powered by two, yes two, V8 engines.

Obviously, fitting two V8 engines into the body of a C5 is no small task so the builders of the GT-SSC have had to widen the rear massively. The engines in question are Chevy’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 LT4s with each pumping out 650 hp and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque as standard. We have no idea how these two engines work alongside each other but if they do work, then we imagine this thing is an absolute beast to drive.

The rear half of the GT-SSC really is something to behold and features massive air intakes in front of the rear wheels to help cool the engines. In addition, there is a large rear wing, swollen quarter panels and absolutely massive wheels to help to put the power to the pavement. It’s also impossible not to notice how incredibly long the wheelbase of the car appears to be.

Double Trouble Hot Rod is no stranger to making wild vehicles with multiple engines. In the past it has created a Ford Econoline with four supercharged V8 engines and even built a Harley Davidson motorcycle with four motors, The Drive reports.
