A couple of months after the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta was unveiled, the automaker has released a video explaining some of the changes it made to the car.

The automaker started out by updating the front fascia of the 2022 Jetta, equipping it with a revised bumper and two chrome bars that stretch across the grille. VW’s new badge is also featured, as are updated LED headlights and daytime running lights. A number of new wheels have also been designed, offered in 16-, 17- and 18-inch sizes, and also available with an all-black finish.

Tweaks made to the rear include a bespoke rear bumper with chrome accents.

Updates have also been made to the car’s interior. For example, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster now comes standard while the higher-end GLI variant has a 10-inch display. New cloth seats also come standard with a rhombus pattern while the GLI adds red stitching and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Optional front and rear heated seats are also offered, as are front ventilated seats.

A key change made to the Jetta for the 2022 model year is the fitment of a new EA211 1.5-liter engine borrowed from the Taos compact crossover. This powertrain is good for 158 hp and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque and has a higher compression ratio, plasma coated cylinder walls, and variable turbine geometry for the turbo. The engine can be paired to an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.
