The forthcoming BMW M3 Touring has been spied testing once again and these new spy shots preview the car’s interior.
Enthusiasts have been clamoring for an M3 Touring for many years now and the car is shaping up to be everything we had dreamed of. Not only will it offer performance to match the sedan but the wagon body style will make it more practical and may even make it look a touch better.

Much like other M3 Touring prototypes spied in recent months, this one is bathed in camouflage but we can still get a very good look at its overall design. Also catching the eye are the tightly-spoked black wheels contrasted by bright red brake calipers. Look closely and you’ll notice that this prototype is actually painted red beneath all the camouflage.
An image snapped of the car’s interior is also interesting. While the cabin is loaded with testing equipment, we can see that the car features the same digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen setup as the all-electric i4. By comparison, the standard M3 and M4 have a slightly more traditional digital instrument cluster with a large shroud and a separate infotainment screen alongside. The upcoming mid-life facelift of the whole 3-Series and 4-Series lineup is expected to migrate to the i4’s more modern cabin layout, which also features BMW‘s latest infotainment system.
This prototype was also snapped sporting an M3 Competition badge. This fits in with previous reports that the Touring will be sold exclusively in the flagship Competition guise. As such, its 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six should pump out the same 503 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque as the current sedan, with power going to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
