The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is shaping up to be even more track-focused than its predecessors and the German automaker continues to put the car through its paces at the Nurburgring.

Spy photographers were recently able to film the car being driven right at its limits around the circuit and as production cars go, few will be as well-suited to high-speed track driving as the 992-generation GT3 RS.

As we’ve seen with spy shots in the past, the new GT3 RS will immediately stand out from the ‘regular’ GT3 thanks to the presence of a much larger rear wing that looks like it’s been taken directly off the GT3 Cup race car. This new wing will no doubt help to improve downforce over the rear wheels and ensure the car is even faster around a circuit. Look closely and you’ll notice that the wing is active, opening up when the driver is accelerating and closing under hard braking.

Elsewhere, we can see that the new 911 GT3 RS sports enlarged air vents on the hood and has been adorned with some body cladding across its rear end. It also sports louvers on the front wheel arches.

Powering the car will, of course, be a naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine. Some rumors suggest this engine will displace 4.2-liters, more than any other GT3 model before it and helping it to pump out as much as 572 hp, a significant increase over the 513 hp of the outgoing model.

Porsche is expected to unveil the new car sometime this year.
