The RAM TRX is one of the most important trucks ever produced and sold to the public en masse. With a 702-horsepower engine and an impressive suite of features that match its outstanding engine, it’s set an incredibly high bar. Sadly for Stellantis, and perhaps happily, for the rest of us (unless you own a TRX), there’s an even faster truck that now reigns supreme, the Rivian R1T.

There’s no question that electrification is the future and that’s been made clear in many ways by EVs shocking the world with incredible 0-60 and 1/4-mile times. The all-new Rivian R1T not only smoked every other EV truck concept to the production line, but now it’s done the same thing to the most powerful gas-powered, series production truck in history, the RAM TRX, on a drag strip.

This comparison is brought to us by the guys in Denver, CO over at TFLTruck. They’ve had their RAM TRX for quite some time and in that span, they’ve smoked just about every fast truck on the planet from Shelby Raptors to old-school resto-modded trucks. And that makes sense considering the truck’s Hellcat heritage.

The RAM is obviously quite quick, it can do 0-60 in as little as 3.7-seconds and then blitz through the 1/4-mile in just 12.3-seconds. To put that into perspective, it’s just a as speedy as a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS 1LE. Now, in Denver, where the air is much thinner, TFLTruck has only been able to sprint to 60 from 0 in 4.43 seconds. That’s still very fast, but it quite simply can’t handle the Rivian R1T on paper or on the track.

Up in the Mile High City, the Rivian rockets away from the Dinosaur as though it were permanently consigned to the history books. That’s shocking because the Rivian weighs more than 7,000-pounds. Again, to put that number in perspective, the The RAM TRX Weighs just under 6,400-pounds. This means you could put an actual newborn baby elephant in the bed and still be lighter than the R1T. Of course, then, the Rivian would win even more easily.
