Watching a Ferrari driving in and out of the Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata is not something you see every day. However, this is what Italian YouTuber Varryx witnessed and caught on film while waiting outside the gates for his usual scoop videos.

Instead of a camouflaged Lamborghini prototype or any other production model from the brand, the camera caught a red Ferrari SF90 Stradale fitted with the Asseto Fiorano package going in and out of the factory in Sant’Agata a couple of times with different drivers. The flagship supercar from Lamborghini’s greatest rival had proper stickers on the doors showing it is an electrified vehicle used for testing purposes.

While Ferrari models have never been seen testing by Lamborghini before, we guess that the Italian brand is benchmarking the SF90 Stradale against one of its upcoming new-generation supercars. After all, Lamborghini is developing plug-in hybrid powertrains for the successors of the Aventador, Huracan, and the facelifted Urus, all set to debut by 2024, making the way for Lambo’s first EV in 2028.

The Ferrari SF90, introduced in 2019, is fitted with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and three electric motors for a combined output of 986 hp (735 kW / 1,000 PS). Being the fastest vehicle in the current Ferrari range, it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than 2.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph).

Lamborghini has confirmed that its next mid-engined flagship set to replace the Aventador will be fitted with a new hybrid V12. We guess there is much to learn from Ferrari’s proven experience starting from the V12-powered La Ferrari, and evolving into the V8-powered SF90 (Stradale and Spider) and more recently into V6-powered 296 (GTB and GTS). The latter could also be used by Lamborghini as it will likely be a great benchmark for the successor of the mighty Huracan.
