A photo purporting to be of a product brochure for Honda’s upcoming 2023 Civic Type R has leaked online and suggests that the new hot hatch will make 326 hp (243 kW/330 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque.

The document was shared with Tire Meets Road by an unnamed source, so the legitimacy of the brochure is hard to know for sure. Other Japanese customers, like Azuso Ito, a writer and illustrator, have placed orders for their cars, though, and have received product information as a result.

Ito shared a look at the brochure with her followers during a livestream, but it’s hard to make out much on the engine page because of the quality of the video. The  brochure certainly uses the same photo of the Civic Type R‘s engine as is used in the leaked image with power ratings, which also states that peak power will be reached at 6,500 rpm while peak torque will be available between 2,600-4,000 rpm.

For reference, in Japan and Europe, the outgoing Honda Civic Type R makes 316 hp (235 kW/320 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque, which is indeed 10 PS (7.3 kW/9.8 hp) and 20 Nm (14.75 lb-ft) of torque more than the outgoing model, as the brochure suggests. It’s unclear if Honda will once again pull power for the North American market, whose model makes 306 hp (228 kW/310 PS).

Despite promising that the next-generation Civic Type R will be faster on any track than the previous model, Honda has been frustratingly slow when it comes to revealing details about the new, highly anticipated hot hatch. To wit, although it has promised that this generation will be more powerful than the outgoing model, it has not yet officially revealed how much more powerful.

As with engine power, Honda has also kept its cards close to its chest with details regarding the chassis engineering of the new vehicle. The automaker has said, though, that the body of the new Civic Type R is “lightweight and highly rigid” and that driving feel will be increased by “enhanced suspension and steering performance.” The hot hatch has already claimed a FWD lap record at Japan’s famed Suzuka Circuit.

More details about the hot hatch will likely be released closer to the 2023 Honda Civic’s on-sale date of fall 2022.
