Starting at the front, we know that the Prius will have a fascia similar to Toyota’s fleet of new Crown models. This is particularly evident with the lobster-claw-shaped LED daytime running lights that give the hybrid a sharp and dynamic look.

The side profile of the new Prius also reveals a plethora of changes. While it remains a five-door fastback like its predecessors, the roofline is sleeker than ever before to aid in aerodynamics and reduce the car’s coefficient of drag. Toyota has also gone to town on the rear-end of the new Prius by ditching the curiously-shaped taillights of its predecessors and instead opting for a simple LED light bar.

It is understood that the new Toyota Prius will be underpinned by the carmaker’s E3 platform that combines components from the ICE-compatible TNGA-C platform and the EV-only architecture used by Toyota’s bZ range of EVs.

Specifics about the gasoline-electric hybrid aren’t yet known but there is speculation that a hydrogen-electric hybrid powertrain could be added to the Prius range in 2025. Such a model could be the first production model to utilize Toyota’s hydrogen internal combustion engine.
