A social media influencer is wanted by authorities in the UAE after publishing a video of himself inside an exotic car dealership acting like a complete tool to the showroom staff and flanked by two men holding a pallet of cash. Prosecutors say the man’s arrogant behavior ridicules Emirati citizens.

The video posted to TikTok shows a man in Emirati dress walking into the dealership where he meets a female employee and rudely demands to see the boss, thrusting a wad of bank notes into her hand after she points him in the manager’s direction and telling her to “go buy coffee.”

He then asks the boss what the most expensive car in the showroom is, and after being told it’s a Ferrari SF90 priced at 2.2 million dirham ($599,000) declares it too cheap, saying it’s the sort of car his driver would have. During the following tour of the dealership the man casually agrees to purchase an Audi R8, the SF90, a Mercedes-AMG SUV, Rolls Royce convertible, and then asks for a Red Bull.

The man hasn’t been officially named but commenters on social media identify him as Car Expert (@car.exper7 on Instagram), an influencer with over 2 million TikTok and 1.4 million Instagram followers. He’s accused of “abusing the internet in posting exciting propaganda that stirs up the public opinion and harms the public interest,” Arabian Business reports. Authorities say the video is inconsistent with the UAE’s media content standards, insults the Emirati society and shows a lack of appreciation of the value of money. Unlike every other social media video and car-related story to come out of the UAE, right?

That might be true but it’s pretty obvious that the video was just a stunt, and that the man’s media content is built around showcasing, and poking a little fun at, the luxury car culture in the UAE. Unfortunately that probably won’t help his cause much, and the dealership staff might also be in hot water if they’re found to have been complicit in staging the video. Arabian Business says the owner has been summoned to meet with prosecutors.
