- Speeding car went airborne, ejecting driver into backyard pool.
- Video shows car smashing the wall and striking pool house roof.
- Crash caused nearly $300,000 in damage to the backyard and pool.
What started as a quiet night in Nevada ended with a wrecked wall, a flying SUV, and someone face down in the pool. Cletis Reed was just about to spend some time in his hot tub with a cold one. He had just opened up one half of it and went back in the house to tell his wife something.
In those moments, a speeding driver lost control of their car, slammed into Reed’s wall, got ejected from the vehicle, and ended up in his pool. The car went on to collapse the roof that sat just above the hot tub. Somehow, everyone survived, but you’ll want to see the video to believe it.

The crash occurred late on the night of December 15, according to FOX5 Las Vegas, which obtained both the surveillance video and a police crash report.
Into the Backyard Like a Missile
Investigators say the driver was allegedly speeding moments before failing to stop, slamming into the wall, and launching the vehicle into a neighbor’s backyard like something out of an action movie. Of course, it was minus the stunt crew and safety planning.
The car in question appears to be a Chevrolet Equinox. As it hits the wall, it begins to tumble high in the air. This is the moment when the driver falls straight out of the driver’s side window and into Reed’s pool. “It sounded like a freight train,” Reed said. “I come out to see my entire backyard destroyed. The patio is on the ground, the lady is floating in my pool.”
Reed said he had been moments away from getting into his hot tub (a story corroborated by his security footage), located near the wall that collapsed during the crash. Had he been standing there, he believes the outcome could have been fatal. “She was blessed, and I was blessed,” Reed added.
Reed and others pulled the driver from the water, where she was conscious but disoriented and moaning. Roughly 15 minutes later, she was evidently standing and speaking with police. She was later transported to a hospital in Arizona.
A $300,000 Cleanup
The car ended up in such an awkward position that a tow truck had to use a crane to lift it out of the backyard. Sadly for Reed, the damage didn’t stop there. The crash destroyed his patio and contaminated his 25,000-gallon pool with motor oil.
Reed estimates repairs could approach $300,000 and says the pool may need to be completely drained. The driver reportedly has prior traffic violations, and police are still determining whether charges will be filed. Despite it all, this could’ve gone much worse, and we’re glad it didn’t.
