- Dealer lists Prelude with $10K off, but still over MSRP.
- Many Honda fans say MSRP is already too expensive.
- Facebook listing drew backlash over inflated pricing.
If there’s one thing that Honda enthusiasts have made clear, it’s that they want the new Prelude to be attainable. Yet, here we are with another account of a dealer clearly not getting the message. In fact, this story includes a dealer and a specific car that we’ve highlighted before.
In the past, it was an eye-watering $68,850. Now, the dealer has slapped a massive discount on it, but don’t get too excited. That markdown only applies to the…markup itself, and the car is still priced five figures above MSRP.

The dealer in question is Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg, Virginia. It openly put a $25,000 market adjustment on its lone 2026 Prelude in stock late last year. As we pointed out, $68,000 is enough for buyers to pick up a Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, a BMW M2, or even a Porsche 718 Cayman.
Clearly, the Prelude doesn’t and won’t ever belong anywhere near that segment. Period. Unless we’re talking fuel economy numbers, but who really buys a sporty looking model for that.
Whether it was a lack of interest in being gouged by a greedy dealer or actually feeling shame after our initial coverage, the dealer did take action to cut the price. Now, it wants a cool $58,850 and wouldn’t you know it, Pohanka Honda even lists that as a discount, folks.
What generosity! Someone on Reddit even spotted the listing on Facebook and asked, “Are they coming to reason?” Maybe, but we’re not holding our breath just yet.
The vast majority of people who commented on the post hold out the belief that the Prelude shouldn’t be priced anywhere near where it is, even at MSRP.
“It’s still over 10k more than msrp… and msrp is 10k more than it should be,” said one. “32K is exactly what it should be considering what it is,” said another. It seems the internet has a clear picture of what the Prelude is worth, and it sure isn’t a number that starts with five or six.
That said, we’re still in the early going of Prelude sales. If history has taught us anything, it’s that those who demand to own a new car first will often pay more than they should, and those who are patient will save thousands.
