Achieving dreams can take years, if not decades. Seeing the product of those dreams go up in smoke can happen in moments. That’s one key takeaway after a seven-figure Ford GT supercar crashed in California. Despite video of the crash, it’s still tough to say what exactly happened.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Winding Way and Manzanita Avenue in Carmichael, just outside Sacramento, on April 5. According to the account that shared both the crash and its aftermath, the car had recently changed hands for $2.5 million. It’s worth quite a bit less now.

Based on grainy video from across the intersection, the GT was moving more quickly than surrounding traffic. That said, it wasn’t exactly flying down the road, either. A van leaving a parking lot and merging onto the street might have played a role by tapping the Ford or possibly just startling the driver into a mistake behind the wheel.
Whether contact happened or not, what’s clear is that the GT loses traction, spins clockwise, and then slams into landscaping and concrete at the Winding Way Apartments. The force is so brutal that it kicks the supercar up in the air, rips the skin off of the door, and spins the whole thing back counterclockwise. Video from the immediate aftermath shows a dearth of damage.
While it only depicts the car from the front driver’s side, it appears that just about every panel has some damage on it. The passenger door still works and is in its upright position. The hazards are flashing. Beyond that, it’s unclear if anything else on the car is functional. Far more importantly, it sounds like both occupants of the car are going to be okay.
Reports say that both went to the hospital. The daughter of the owner is evidently searching for more information about exactly what happened. A nearby ambulance happened to be just moments away when the crash happened. That might have played a role in the survivability of this brutal crash.
