• Production of this Camaro-based Trans Am was capped at 77 examples.
  • Powering the car is a huge 7.4-liter supercharged V8 with 840 hp.
  • Trans Am Depot added Pontiac’s iconic Screaming Chicken graphic.

Combining a fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro with a design inspired by the original Pontiac Trans Am may sound strange, but as this car from Trans Am Depot reveals, it’s actually a match made in heaven.

Just 77 examples of this special Bandit Edition Camaro were built by Trans Am Depot a decade ago, not to be confused with the very similar Camaro-based Trans Am revival from Trans Am Specialties in Florida. One of the rare Trans Am Depot cars is heading to auction next month, and it seems to have a lot going for it.

Significant changes have been made to the Camaro’s bodywork to make it reminiscent of arguably Pontiac’s most famous model. The front-end has been revised with a new bumper, a splitter, gold headlight surrounds, and a split grille. An all-new hood has also been crafted, complete with the Trans Am’s famed ‘Screaming Chicken’ graphic.

Power To Match The Looks

A new set of wheels has also been added, complete with silver and gold spokes and sitting over a pair of aftermarket brakes. Gold pinstripes beautifully contrast the black paint, as do the Trans Am logos on the sides. The rear has also been overhauled with new exhausts, custom taillights, a spoiler, and plenty of gold. Perhaps the most impressive thing about the whole build is that Trans Am Depot added removable T-top panels.

Found in the cabin are newly-upholstered seats, badges, embroidery on the headrests, and intricate graphics on the door panels. The car’s dashboard has even been signed by the late actor Burt Reynolds. Matching the car’s overhauled design is a 7.4-liter supercharged V8 churning out 840 hp that, no doubt, adds a lot to the appeal of the modified Camaro.
