- Subaru has introduced the 2027 Ascent, which begins at $40,795.
- Company largely held the line on pricing, but some trims climb $100.
- Crossover gains two new colors, extra USB-C ports, and a cargo light.
Subaru Ascent sales tumbled 21.1% last year to a mere 44,400 units and 2026 is shaping up to be even worse as year-to-date numbers are down 13.3%. This is hardly surprising as the three-row crossover segment is highly competitive and the model is nearly a decade old.
Unfortunately for dealers, it’s rolling into 2027 with only a handful of updates. That’s not good, but at least the company held the line on pricing as the crossover continues to start at $40,795. However, the destination fee has increased from $1,450 to $1,495.
Review: Subaru’s Ascent Is Good At Everything Except Winning You Over
On the styling front, the only change is the addition of two new hues known as Deepwater Blue Pearl and Daybreak Blue Pearl. Both are a $395 option and they’re offered alongside Autumn Green Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Crystal White Pearl, Dark Mahogany Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, and Magnetite Gray Metallic.
Bigger changes occur inside, but they’re not anything to write home about as USB-C charging ports have now been added to the third-row. This means each row now offers USB-A and USB-C ports.
Buyers will also find a new switch, which disables the door-activated interior lighting system. On the topic of lights, higher-end trims – including the Limited, Limited Bronze Edition, Touring, and Onyx Edition Touring – have a new LED light in the cargo area for improved visibility at night.
That appears to be the extent of the changes, but it is worth noting Subaru has tweaked some prices. The Limited and Limited Bronze Edition climb $100 to begin at $47,985 and $49,095, respectively. The other trims remain unchanged.
All models are powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS) and 277 lb-ft (375 Nm) of torque. It’s paired to a continuously variable transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system.
