Not the type of car manufacturer to be satisfied with one of the fastest and most powerful production cars on the planet, Ferrari appears to be readying a more potent version of the SF90 Stradale.
A handful of intriguing SF90 Stradale test cars were recently spotted being put through their paces near Ferrari’s headquarters in Italy. While one of the prototypes was bathed in matte black paint to hide some of its key design details, another one had much less camo across its exterior and was fitted with a handful of striking exterior parts.

The prototype in question can be seen with some simple white and black camouflage across its front fascia but we can see a much more prominent splitter than found on the current SF90 Stradale. In addition, it has a large scoop on the hood which appears to be hiding a large air extraction vent similar to what’s found on the 488 Pista. Distinctive wheels are also featured.
The YouTuber who filmed these prototypes up close speculates that the new variant of the SF90 could follow in the footsteps of the hardcore 812 Superfast and be dubbed the SF90 Stradale VS (Versione Speciale) or Competizione. Whatever it ends up being called, it seems inevitable that the Italian car manufacturer won’t just alter the car’s exterior design and aerodynamic performance but will also make a number of upgrades to the car’s hybrid powertrain.
As standard, the SF90 Stradale rocks a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that operates alongside three electric motors to produce a combined 986 hp. This engine is coupled to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power through all four wheels. With some simple tweaks to the V8, Ferrari could also boost the SF90 Stradale VS to well over 1,000 hp. A number of weight-saving measures are also likely, as are various tweaks to the suspension and braking systems.
