• Goosfam gives Toyota’s plain Probox wagon a retro Land Cruiser face.
  • The RetroPro kit starts at $4,100 before paint and installation.
  • Complete cars run from $18,600 to $20,000 across two trims

Japanese tuners just can’t leave the humble Toyota Probox alone, and frankly we’re glad they can’t. The latest shop to turn the workaday wagon into an off-road throwback is Niigata-based Goosfam, which has grafted a Land Cruiser 60 Series face onto the unassuming hauler.

The kit goes by the name RetroPro and comes in two flavors, Urban Classic and LifeStyle Retro. Both swap the Probox’s anonymous nose for a boxy front end with the 60 Series’ iconic square headlights, a simple grille, and a custom bumper with orange indicators. A flat hood and redesigned front fenders complete the retro conversion.

The split between the two trims comes down to detailing. Urban Classic lays on a heavy dose of chrome, while LifeStyle Retro ditches the shiny stuff for black accents. The rest of the bodywork carries over straight from the donor Probox, though Goosfam dresses it in fresh period-correct shades like beige, brown, and light blue, all pulled from the classic Land Cruiser palette.

Finishing off the look is a fresh set of Goosfam alloys with a five-spoke design and black finish, wrapped in all-terrain rubber. And for buyers who want to take things further, Goosfam says a line of optional accessories for the RetroPro kit is on the way.

There are no changes under the hood, where you’ll find the trusty 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine or the available self-charging hybrid powertrain. The ProBox is offered with an optional 4WD system, which is arguably the best option for dressing it in Land Cruiser clothing.

According to the tuner’s official website, the RetroPro kit starts at ¥660,000 ($4,100) before installation and paint. Prefer the turnkey route? Complete vehicles start from just ¥2,980,000 ($18,600) for the LifeStyle Retro and ¥3,145,000 ($20,000) for the Urban Classic, with sales kicking off July 1st through Sano Auto dealers in Japan.

The RetroPro isn’t the first Probox to chase the Land Cruiser look, either. A rival tuner called Hakobanya offers its own “70 Box” conversion inspired by the 70 Series, proving that round headlights can be every bit as charming as square ones.
