• Allen Millyard’s Viper V10 bike is being auctioned from his personal collection.
  • The 500 hp machine topped 207 mph and earned a Guinness World Record.
  • Despite its outrageous design, it is fully road legal and has covered over 9k miles.

Building a motorcycle around the Viper’s giant V10 engine is one kind of achievement, and Dodge already proved it could be done with the outrageous Tomahawk concept in the early 2000s. Making that engine street legal, riding it more than 9,000 miles (14,500 km), and blasting past 200 mph (322 km/h) is another matter altogether.

Allen Millyard did all of that with his one-off Viper V10, then went and claimed a Guinness World Record on top, and now the machine is finally heading to auction.

The outrageous motorcycle will cross the block at H&H Classics’ July 22 sale with an estimate of £100,000 to £150,000 ($135,000 to $202,000 at current exchange rates). Considering its reputation and the cult following Millyard has built over the past two decades, it wouldn’t be surprising to see bidding exceed expectations.

From Spare Engine To Auction Star

The bike began life in 2004 when Millyard acquired a used 8.0-liter Dodge Viper V10 engine. Rather than simply bolting it into an oversized chassis, he spent five years engineering what looks remarkably close to a factory-built machine. That’s become Millyard’s trademark, creating outrageous customs that appear as though they could have rolled off an OEM production line.

The finished machine produces around 500 hp (373 kW) and 525 lb-ft (712 Nm) of torque, according to Jalopnik. Tubular steel and aluminum subframes bolt directly to the engine, while the single-sided swingarm attaches to the gearbox itself. Up front are bespoke forks using 75 mm JCB hydraulic ram stanchions, while converted Vauxhall Carlton internals, Hagon springs, and modified Yamaha R1 shocks help tame the enormous power.

Built To Be Ridden Hard

Millyard didn’t build the bike as a static display piece either. Following its completion in 2009, Motorcycle News test rider Bruce Dunn piloted it to 207.1 mph (333 km/h) during testing at Bruntingthorpe. According to the auction listing, the run wasn’t even completed at full throttle. Perhaps even more impressive is how much the motorcycle has actually been ridden.

Millyard has logged more than 9,000 miles (14,500 km) aboard it, including trips to Guernsey, the Isle of Wight, and even laps of the Isle of Man TT course. In 2023, the V10 machine found itself back in the record books. With television presenter Henry Cole riding pillion, the pair achieved 183.5 mph (295 km/h) to claim the Guinness World Record for the fastest tandem motorcycle run, beating the previous mark by nearly 5 mph.

Dodge showed the Tomahawk with a Viper V10, but the concept was never headed for real production, no matter how badly people wanted one. Now, Millyard’s creation hands that experience to whoever puts up the winning bid.
