Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Police Department chased and arrested an individual behind the wheel of a white Mercedes who attempted to flee from authorities for over an hour. However, it was a group of motorcyclists who stole the show during the chase.
A KTLA 5 media helicopter captured parts of the chase, including the moment the driver of the GLC pulled onto the 110 Freeway and came across a group of at least eight dirt bike riders. The motorcyclists, not wearing helmets, were captured pulling wheelies next to the speeding Mercedes, seemingly unaware the SUV was being chased by a police cruiser just feet behind.

At one stage, the rider of a lime green dirt bike performs a wheelie directly in front of the GLC, prompting the driver to pull into the shoulder before they were able to squeeze through the group. Thankfully, none of the bikers were hit or hurt, but things could have quickly turned dangerous.
Local media reports the chase started at just after 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the North Hollywood area. Police quickly determined that the GLC was stolen and that the driver may have been armed with a gun.
After initially speeding through the San Fernando Valley and later getting on the 101 and 405 Freeways, hitting speeds exceeding 100 mph (160 km/h), the driver eventually came across heavy traffic shortly after passing by the group of motorcyclists.
While traffic was almost sitting at a standstill on the 110 Freeway, the driver was spotted aggressively swerving between cars and driving along the shoulder, all while at least two LAPD Ford Explorers were in hot pursuit and a police helicopter tracked the driver’s every movement.
Eventually, the driver pulled off the freeway and into downtown Los Angeles, where the driver is said to have pulled into a parking garage. While this got them out of sight from the media and police helicopters, units on the ground were still in hot pursuit. One of the suspects was quickly taken into custody, but, according to KTLA 5, one managed to successfully flee the scene.
