As much as we would have enjoyed seeing the Demon beaten into submission by the McLaren 720S again, the following video is all about its lesser sibling: the Hellcat.

Well, ‘lesser’ is not the word to go for here, because this Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat actually has more power than the original Bugatti Veyron.

If the numbers disclosed in the description of the video are correct, then the muscle car has an immense 1,150 horsepower to play with. So, on a good day, it could probably hit 62mph (100km/h) in less than 3 seconds, and it’s likely a 10-second car, too.

Then again, as fierce as its challenger (pun intended) may be, the McLaren 720S can always pull a little surprise. The clever engineering that went into its development has definitely paid off, as the British supercar goes like a bat out of hell.

Unlike the tuned supercharged 6.2-liter V8 of the American model, the 720S has a smaller 4.0-liter V8 with twin-turbocharging. Thus, 710 horses and 568 pound-feet (770Nm) of torque are being channeled to the rear wheels through a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission.

It doesn’t even need a good day to reach 62mph (100km/h) in 2.9 seconds, or a top speed of 341km/h (212mph), because it lays down the power without breaking a sweat.

But surely, as bad as it may be, it cannot possibly hold its ground against a vehicle that’s almost 450hp more powerful. As things turned out, it definitely could. Surprised?
