When it comes to heavy vehicles with high centers of gravity, drivers need to be extra careful not to upset their balance, especially when maneuvering at speed.

This footage, taken last week in Kazan, Russia, shows a cement tanker tipping over in traffic, seemingly out of the blue. It is of course possible that the driver was going a little bit too fast for that right-hand turn, but we have no way of knowing if that was indeed the main cause of the crash.

Generally speaking, these types of vehicles are known for being prone to tipping over, mostly when fully loaded with whatever type of cargo they happen to be carrying. All it takes is a quick flick of the wrist on the steering wheel, and the truck could lose its balance, especially if the weight is already being shifted around (like during a turn).

Thankfully, nobody was injured during the crash, as specified in the description of the video. However, five cars were reportedly damaged and the cammer even had to make a break for it in order to avoid becoming one of the casualties.

In the end, unless something else happened, it probably comes back to human error, which is the case for most accidents. In all likelihood, if the truck driver had slowed down going into that turn, the tanker wouldn’t have tipped over.
