Toyota Debuts Five 2020 Supra Tuning Concepts, Name Your Favorite

Toyota prepped a wide variety of 2020 GR Supra prototypes for the 2019 SEMA show either on its own or by teaming up with different aftermarket companies.

All in all, it brought along five different concept at the Las Vegas Convention Center that are sure to give tuners ideas on what parts they should offer for the Japanese sports car with the German DNA.

To make it a bit more interesting, it’s also holding the “GRudge Match” for the most popular build. See them in detail below and tell us which one gets your vote.

2020 Toyota GR Supra 3000GT Concept

One of the most striking of the whole batch is the GR Supra 3000GT Concept. Inspired by the original TRD3000GT, a wide body kit made for the Supra in 1994 that was released to celebrate the car’s success in the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship, it makes the coupe look a lot more aggressive.

It includes hood and wing modeled after the original, as well as fender flares, reshaped bumpers and a big rear diffuser. The Supra is finished in silver, adorned with yellow vinyl, and rocks adjustable coilovers, custom exhaust system, Brembo brakes and 19-inch wheels.

The interior has welcomed bucket seats approved by FIA and a Pioneer sound system to boost the mood.

2020 Toyota GR Supra HyberBoost Edition 750HP

While the 3000GT is all show with no extra-go, the GR Supra HyperBoost Edition boasts more than double the original output. Built by NASCAR analyst and broadcast personality Rutledge Wood’s team, it has 750 horsepower, Brembo brakes and KW adjustable coilovers.

Making its presence more felt is the carbon fiber body kit that uses the original mounting points. Furthermore, the stock metal roof has been replaced by a carbon fiber panel, the whole car has been finished in Cement Grey paint and the look is completed by the 10×20-inch front and 12×20-inch rear wheels, with carbon fiber lips, shod in 285/30 and 335/25 Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires.

2020 Toyota GR Supra Wasabi Concept

The greenest of A90 Supras in Las Vegas is the Wasabi Concept. It was made by the Toyota Genuine Accessory Team, gets a custom body kit, mid-mounted exhaust tips and 10×20-inch front and 11×20-inch rear wheels with 275/30 and 305/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Stopping power comes from the upgraded Brembo brakes, whereas the ride height adjustability is signed by Ohlins and includes the adjustable coilovers, as well as the strut tower brace that stiffens up the chassis.

2020 Toyota GR Supra Heritage Edition 500hp

Inspired by the Mk4 generation, the GR Supra Heritage Edition has Toyota VP of Marketing Ed Laukes behind it and features custom headlights and taillights, integrated front splitter, large rear wing and diffuser. Finished in a vibrant color dubbed ‘Re-Entry Red’, it sits on 10.5×19-inch front and 11×19-inch rear wheels from HRE, wrapped in Toyo’s 295/30 and 305/30 rubber, respectively.

Further upgrades have liberated over 500 hp from the engine. Elsewhere, the GR Supra Heritage Edition comes with central-mounted exhaust tips, Brembo brakes and adjustable coilovers.

2020 Toyota GR Supra Performance Line Concept

Another Supra fitted with a carbon fiber body kit is the GR Supra Performance Line Concept, made by the Toyota Customizing and Development (TCD) team. Each part either improves the airflow or increases downforce and is joined by the 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires wrapped around them.

Toyota said that the sound has been improved by the custom exhaust system, whereas the racing seats round up the list of upgrades.

I think top and bottom look best, they are not over done. Ill also say this, they better have functional vents, not just fake crap.

  • i’ll take the tesla model 3

  • DaruniaG

    This is dope

  • lagunas3ca

Sadly, this doesn’t change the fact that there are 700+ new/used Supras listed for sale (most of them below MSRP).

    • Ben

Isn’t that the case with nearly all performance or casual vehicles? Its quite rare to have stock vehicles listed above MSRP. Even then, that only last for a short period of time like Ford Raptor, Ford Focus RS, Honda Civic Type R, Dodge Demon or GT350R. We also know mods actually bring down the asking price on the second hand market if not for the mods, but the way it was probably beat on.

  • lagunas3ca

Shorter, wider, and heavier than the 4th-gen smh.

PS> I don’t care if it only has 2 seats vs. 2+2. If it had the set of seats in back then maybe it wouldn’t look like a chick’s car.

  • Honda NSX-R

  • Tumbi Mtika

The Heritage and Wasabi editions are absolutely mint. Those wings feel at home.

    • Rick Alexander

I like the Heritage Edition also. I wish they’d tell us more about the rear suspension setup. I love the fact that it’s visible through the trunk. Probably not the most efficient use of trunk space, but still DAF!

  • Julien Lachemoi

I was getting used to the design of this new Supra but I have to say now I find it ugly once again. That side profile is really a mess.

  • Andy Teng

I believe the reason why the 3000GT had no increase in power, was to pay homage to the JZA80 version, which didn’t have a power bump, either.

I do hope, however, the kit will someday become available to the public.

    • Andy Teng

And, as for my favourite, I’m wedged somewhere in between the Heritage Edition and the 3000GT.

  • Ben

I had doubt they would, but I was hoping Toyota or somebody would bring an FT-1 bodykit or lookalike.

    • Rick Alexander

Great minds! I also would love to see someone tackling the job of making the production Supra look as close as possible to the FT-01 Concept. They’d have to stretch the wheel base, widen the track, and change a few aesthetics, but it could be done.

      • Ben

Yeah, I suppose to make it easier you could try and modify the Lexus LC500. Its closer to the FT-1 in dimensions, however, it won’t have the same handling characteristics as the A90.

  • Ben

3000GT concept for me, but those seats would have to go. No way I’d be able to scrunch my body past those thigh bolsters. A less aggressive seat, like in the Performance Line Concept, would work however.

  • Bash

Nice, I like the Wasabi one the most, I don’t usually like green cars, but this I can accept.

  • ThatGuy

i would take the 2020 Toyota GR Supra Performance Line Concept with the rear wing of the 2020 Toyota GR Supra Heritage Edition 500hp.

    • Caleb Carter

The Heritage editions rear lights are pretty nostalgic

      • ThatGuy

They are, i like them alot, i would add that to the Performance Line as well.
Thanks for the catch, i missed that

  • Nowan

    none of them

  • exeptor

Mine goes to Wasabi one, but something in picture 21 (HyperBoost rear end) looks quite tempting.

  • ctk4949

Wasabi but with the Heritage rear lights, exhaust, and spoiler. 😀

  • Mr. EP9

For me, it’s a toss up between the 3000GT and the Heritage Edition. Both have something I really like.

  • Сафиуллинь-Мухамед Рамазанов

Toyota is shifting or trying to shift to the Toyota of the early 60s to mid 90s

  • Stealth333

My favorite would be the Heritage Edition. But they are all cool unlike this fake Supra Marketing Toyota tried to pull off.

  • FlameWater

All the Supra haters jaws dropped

  • Mike D

    What about TJ Hunt’s car?

  • Gareth Siew

Just rename the car to GR Sport 3000!
