A Tesla Model 3 owner has turned the electric sedan into an off-road-looking machine thanks to a set of snow tracks at the rear axle.

The Model 3 in question is a Standard Range Plus model equipped with rear-wheel drive and has previously been the subject of an action-filled drifting video. While this clip doesn’t show the Tesla driving more than a couple of miles per hour, it does show that with a set of snow tracks, even a rear-wheel drive Tesla can handle snow without a worry in the world.

Helping to modify the car was a company by the name of Mullin Manufacturing. It doesn’t appear as though the tracks themselves were designed specifically for the Tesla but the mountings were custom made to ensure the snow tracks easily slide onto the hubs of the Tesla, just like a set of ordinary wheels would.

In order for the snow tracks to fit, however, they sit out well beyond the Tesla’s bodywork, drastically increasing the amount of pressure on the car’s rear hubs and the five lug nuts holding each of the tracks on. It’s little surprise then that the driver was only crawling around the snow and not brave enough to give it too much throttle.

While the resulting car is pretty cool, we don’t recommend fellow Tesla Model 3 owners follow the lead of this one and equip their cars with snow tracks. If you happen to own an all-wheel drive Tesla, you could probably achieve a similar or even better grip with a set of snow or studded winter tires.
