BMW is in the midst of developing the next-generation 7-Series and not only will the flagship sedan look quite different than the current model but it will also be sold in all-electric guise as well.

The electric variant of the next 7-Series, set to be dubbed the BMW i7, has been spied on a handful of occasions. This all-electric version of the 7-Series won’t just be focused on efficiency but according to a new report, it will also pack quite the punch.

According to Autobild, the i7 will come outfitted with a large 120 kWh battery that will allegedly give the car up to 435 miles (700 km) of range. Equally impressive are claims that this variant will pump out upwards of 650 HP. While it is unclear how many electric motors this variant of the i7 will have, it will undoubtedly be all-wheel drive and will likely be the most accelerative variant of the new 7-Series on sale.

Another variant of the i7 will also be introduced at a later date. This version will reportedly borrow its powertrain from the smaller BMW i4, combining an 80 kWh battery with electric motors producing about 536 HP. This model could have a range of about 292 miles (470 km).

From a styling front, it appears that the new 7-Series, including the i7, will look quite different than the outgoing model. Camouflaged prototypes have been spotted rocking an intriguing front fascia with large kidney grilles and split headlights. The rear end will also be quite different in shape and feature new taillights.
