The Mk4 Supra is arguably the most iconic and desirable generation of Toyota’s sports car, but what if the Japanese automaker had partnered with another manufacturer to bring it to life?

As we all know, the current Supra was developed through a collaboration with BMW and this prompted Abimelec Design to imagine what an Mk4 Supra would have looked like if it too was created with the help of the Germans.

With the current Supra sharing many important parts with the BMW Z4, the designer decided to base his unique Supra on the BMW M Coupe of the day. It looks utterly bizarre.

The car borrows its unusual shape from the M Coupe but combines it with some more familiar Supra styling, such as the front end which has the same headlights and bumper as the fourth-gen of Toyota’s icon.

Viewed from the side, it’s hard not to notice the mix of Toyota and BMW parts. For example, it has air vents on the front quarter-panels, similar to those of the M Coupe, but next to these vents are gold Toyota badges. The wheels have also been lifted from a Supra.

The curious design choices continue at the rear with taillights that share some commonalities with those of the Supra and the M Coupe, while the quad tailpipes remind us of the latter.

Were the Mk4 Supra based around the BMW M Coupe and looked like this, we doubt it would have become the icon that it is today.
