• The Prelude gains 2027 Limited Edition with a special livery.
  • The hybrid powertrain carries over from the standard coupe.
  • Sales kick off in Japan this August with a $39,300 price tag.

Honda is trying to rejuvenate customer interest for the Prelude in Japan by unveiling a new 2027 Limited Edition. The hybrid coupe gains a unique deep red paint and matching inserts inside the cabin, without any changes under the skin.

The Prelude was introduced in the Japanese market in September 2025, with the ON Limited Edition combining a Moonlit Pearl shade with black roof, mirrors, and alloy wheels. Less than a year later, Honda introduces the 2027 Limited Edition with a more eye-catching spec.

The exterior of the new variant is painted in a Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic shade previously unavailable for the Prelude. This is combined with a matching grille molding, red accents on the bumpers (instead of the standard blue), and the familiar 19-inch alloy wheels with a Machined Black Clear finish and red Brembo brakes.

The interior has also received a special treatment with Bordeaux inserts on the front seats, center console, and dashboard. The rest of the upholstery is black leather with Bordeaux contrasting stitching. Finally, the Prelude embroidered logo on the passenger side of the dash is red instead of white.

Mechanically, the 2027 Limited Edition shares the hybrid powertrain and chassis setup with the standard Prelude. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and dual electric motors produce a combined 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS), sending power to the front wheels. The signature Honda S+Shift system simulates gear changes with torque mapping and sound effects for a more engaging driving experience.

The 2027 Limited Edition of the Honda Prelude is already available to order in Japan, and is scheduled to reach dealers in August 20. The special model is priced at ¥6,306,300 ($39,300), representing an increase of ¥126,500 ($800) over the standard Prelude.

Honda is keeping its cards close to its chest about availability to other markets, so we have to wait and see if the new color scheme will reach North America for the 2027 model year.
