The drag race that every McLaren fan has been waiting for ever since the Senna was unveiled a couple of years ago is finally here, as the Super Series model met the P1 in a straight-line duel.

In spite of being older, the hybrid hypercar still holds the high ground in most departments over its sibling named after the legendary Ayrton Senna.

Power is one, with the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 and electric motor producing 916 PS (903 hp / 674 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. At 2.8 and 6.8 seconds, the 0-100 and 0-200 km/h (0-62 / 0-124 mph) acceleration is identical in both models, but the P1 can max out at 350 km/h (217 mph), 15 km/h (9 mph) more than the Senna.

As for the latter, its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. The lightweight construction and lack of an electric motor and battery pack allow it to be significantly lighter than the P1, which tips the scales at 1,395 kg (3,075 lbs) dry, as it weighs 1,198 kg (2,641 lbs), according to the official spec sheet.

The balance thus doesn’t tilt in favor of the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder challenger anymore, as on a good day, the Senna could actually teach it a lesson or two. But was this the day the Senna beat the P1? You can find out by scrolling down to the video and hitting that play button. Although we won’t put out any spoilers, what we will say that it was a flawless victory, with the winner nabbing two out of two drag races.
