Watch Out-Of-Control Toyota Terrorizing Drivers In New Jersey

If you ever see someone behaving strangely or dangerously on the road, the best (and smartest) course of action is to hang back and alert the authorities.

That’s exactly what one John Barrett did last week while traveling eastbound on I-195 (NJ), allowing his dashcam to capture the entire incident as it unfolded. The blue Corolla can be seen hitting road signs, spinning onto the grass and even bumping into another vehicle on the highway. Eventually, a state trooper caught up with the action.

The perpetrator, identified as 29-year old Joseph Scott was taken into custody and according to NBC New York, police found heroin and a syringe inside his vehicle, which will likely result in criminal charges.

“For me, it was more important to basically put my hazards on, drop behind him, to document. Not to pull him over,” said Barrett during a phone call with NJ Advance Media. “My wife and kids wouldn’t like that too much if I started playing fake cop.”

“The only time I thought there was going to be an issue was when my car was hit by debris,” added Barrett. “I’m never going to put myself at risk. I was more concerned about the safety of others.”

Aside from sideswiping a white SUV, the blue Corolla also nearly ended up in oncoming traffic after spinning out, but not before it destroyed a road sign, which is what caused the debris Barrett was referring to.

Most likely a drug addict who’ll probably be in and out of prison in the near future.

  • Adilos Nave

Whoa, props to this guy!!! Can’t believe it took over 10 miles for the police to finally get to the crazed lunatic.

    • BlackPegasus

I would’ve done the same thing………… unless of course if I had a hot pizza in the back seat trying to to make it home for some Netflix and chill 😁

  • Blinka Bot

So the Police are there just to film & upload the Event??
at least try to reach it and look, may it be a heart attack

In any case, start to use 4K

    • Jason Miller

He wasn’t police. And not all dash cams record in 4K, don’t be an idiot.

  • BlackPegasus

Good job by the good samaritan dashcam guy. He stayed calm and gave the dispatch crucial info like mile markers which helped to catch the meth addict.

    • diesel_vdub

No mention of meth, just heroin. If you’re going to call someone names, at least be accurate.

      • BlackPegasus

Yeah, I’m sure the heroin addict would be truly offended if he was mistaken for a meth head. 🙄 My bad lol

  • Paul

It would be nice to know the reason for the erratic driving and the outcome after the cop finally got them stopped.

    • Tydogg123 .

Not much of a “reader”, eh?

  • datCubanguy

That was a great selfless act that this man did, that was very dangerous to do but he managed very well and I do hope he gets a recognition by the state police.

    • Loquacious Borborygmus

And a ticket for doing 80.😉

  • Duke Woolworth

In a million and a half miles of driving, I’ll bet I haven’t been passed by more than two or three Corollas.
