BMW‘s M2 is considered one of the best driver’s cars in their lineup at the moment, and the nimble sports coupe even managed a sub-8 minute time at the famous Nurburgring race track back when it came out. However, as we see in this video, driver skill often matters just as much as a car’s capability, especially when a Peugeot 508 PSE is able to stay on your tail for nearly an entire lap.

Mind you, the Peugeot is no slouch, with 355 hp (360 PS / 265 kW) and 384 lb-ft (520 Nm) on tap, and it’s actually quite on par with the BMW‘s 365 hp (370 PS / 272 kW) and 343 lb-ft (465 Nm) of torque. That being said, the M2 does weigh around 600 lbs (272 kg) less, so it does have a superior power-to-weight ratio, although the 508 PSE has all-wheel drive, whereas the Bimmer is rear-wheel drive only.

Nevertheless, despite pushing it to the point of tire squeal through every corner, the Peugeot’s driver stays incredibly calm and collected the whole time. He remains confident near the limit, and almost makes it look as if he could push it even further.

He manages to stay on the M2’s tail for nearly the entire lap, with the few points of separation coming when some other cars get in between them. But each time, the Peugeot driver manages to get past them and get back on the hunt for the M2.

In fact, the only real time where the BMW seems to have a significant pace advantage is on the straights. Other than that, the 508 is right on the back of it the whole time, and you can watch the driver’s impressive racecraft in the video below.
