- A reportedly stolen G-Class flipped violently after being T-boned by a Toyota.
- The chase began in Los Angeles and ended with a crash in suburban Pasadena.
- A Ford Explorer cruiser also crashed into a building during the chaotic pursuit.
Most people would think that if an old Toyota Prius and a Mercedes-Benz G-Class were involved in a collision, it would be the German that would come off best. However, that’s not what happened in Los Angeles earlier this week when a G-Class was driven through a red light and T-boned by a Prius. Evidently, the XL size of the Mercedes couldn’t defeat physics.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were first alerted to a stolen Mercedes G-Class near Century Boulevard and Figueroa Streets on Wednesday evening. They soon tracked down the vehicle and initiated a chase after the driver failed to pull over.
High-Speed Chase Through City Streets
The chase continued down the northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway before the G-Class sped through suburban streets in Pasadena. Footage from a local news helicopter shows the Mercedes speeding through the intersection at Foothill and Sierra Madre boulevards, running a red light in the process.
Moments after entering the intersection, the G-Wagen is T-boned by a Toyota Prius. The force of the impact spins the Prius around 180 degrees, but it almost immediately comes to a stop. While the front end of the Toyota has been severely damaged, the damage to the Mercedes appears even more extensive.
The Prius pushed the G into the air and immediately flipped it over before it rolled several times. According to KTLA, police took the driver into custody shortly after the crash. The G-Class may be big and heavy, but its high center of gravity did it no favors in this accident.
A second vehicle was also damaged, although that crash was not captured on film. It involved a Ford Explorer police cruiser that somehow ended up smashing into the front of a building along Walnut Street. The LAPD has not provided details about how that crash occurred.
