There are a lot of people out there who do not like ‘donk’ cars but there are a handful of them out there that provide breathtaking levels of performance and one of them is featured in this clip.
We all know that the Tesla Model S Plaid is the fastest accelerating production car you can buy without spending well over a million dollars, so to see just how fast the ultimate donk car is, DragTimes used a Model S Plaid as a benchmark.

The donk in question is a 1971 Chevrolet Caprice that has been part of the drag racing scene for quite some time. It is powered by a heavily-upgraded LS7 V8 from a C6 Corvette Z06 and has a massive turbocharger, allowing it to pump out an extraordinary 2,500 hp. It also rides on 26-inch wheels, not a sight you often see on the drag strip.
During the first race between the pair, the Tesla Model S Plaid got away too soon and red-lit. Meanwhile, the Caprice got away well but encountered a huge does of wheelspin, forcing the driver to lift off the throttle to regain control of the car.
The second race was much better. This time, both cars got away smoothly with the Model S Plaid quickly establishing a small lead thanks to the instant power and torque provided by its three electric motors. However, as the speeds increase, the additional power of the Caprice allows it to come over the top, crossing the quarter-mile in 9.292 seconds at 157.50 mph (253.4 km/h) compared to the 9.347 seconds at 148.62 mph (239.2 km/h) of the Model S Plaid.
