- Genesis unveiled two evolved open-top X concepts at Le Mans.
- They feature an aggressive Magma bodykit and bespoke interiors.
- Convertible could enter production based on G90 sedan bones.
The Magma GT and GT3 concepts may have taken the spotlight at Le Mans, but Hyundai’s premium brand didn’t stop there. Two evolved takes on the Genesis X Gran Convertible concept turned up at the same event, and they keep alive the hope that a G90-based convertible could reach production.
The two models boast unique colors and carry mild styling changes over the original Genesis X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible from the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show.

The clearest change is up front, where a redesigned bumper brings larger intakes and a heavier dose of carbon fiber. The profile picks up wider fenders with vents ahead of the doors, lifted straight from the G90 Wingback wagon. The rear gets the same logic, with a more pronounced ducktail spoiler and a large diffuser framing quad tailpipes.
The first open-top model pairs the Magma bodykit with a Liquid Titanium finish and orange rings on its 22-inch alloys. It appears to wear a body-colored hardtop and hides a loud orange interior, with quilted leather upholstery and a tartan motif running across the carpet, door cards, and lower dashboard.

The other convertible adopts a more discreet Midnight Teal color with silver alloy wheels and the same carbon fiber aero. Inside, the four-seater cabin is green, again with tartan-themed inserts. It also features a body-colored hardtop that was most likely a necessity given the limitations of the packaging.

No technical details have been released, but the X Gran Convertible rides on the G90 sedan’s architecture. The aggressive styling suggests it could use the Magma version of that chassis, currently under development.
What sits under the hood is the bigger question, but we have a few ideas. The G90 sedan’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 is the obvious starting point. A hybrid version of that V6 with more power is another. The outside shot is a reworked version of the V8 from the hybrid GMR-001 Hypercar.

The easiest way to find out is to listen as the concepts hit the Le Mans Drivers’ Parade. One will be driven by six-time Le Mans winner and Genesis ambassador Jacky Ickx, the other by Genesis Magma Racing development driver Jamie Chadwick.
Will It Enter Production?
According to the company, the X Gran Convertible represents an “emotional and approachable form of Genesis luxury”. The same can be said about the X Gran Coupe and the beefed-up G90 Wingback wagon, all riding on the underpinnings of the G90 sedan.
Last year, Luc Donckerwolke called the G90 Wingback a “bridge between Magma and the One of One bespoke program,” hinting at the possibility of a limited production run. Hopefully, the company will find enough buyers for the convertible and the coupe, although their custom bodywork and the required R&D investment mean they won’t come cheap.
