An Australian prisoner managed to escape custody late last week after the Toyota Camry corrective services vehicle he was being transported in was repeatedly rammed by a Jeep Wrangler.
Dashcam footage of the incident shows the white Wrangler ramming into the rear of the Camry at an intersection. This impact caused extensive damage to the rear of the corrective services vehicle but the driver of the Jeep didn’t stop there, repeatedly slamming into the Camry to run it off the road.
Eventually, 28-year-old prisoner Kane Quinn was able to escape from the Toyota and flee the scene in the Jeep with 28-year-old Lila Rosemary Walto.

Approximately one hour after the brazen escape, police found the Jeep torched and abandoned in a nearby suburb. The escape didn’t last long, however, as police found the man and the two women that helped him escape at a house in Canberra later that evening.
Quinn was charged with escaping custody while Walto was charged with assaulting frontline staff, dangerous driving, car theft, and property damage.
“I was heading home from work [and] I looked in my rearview mirror and saw this white Wrangler, Jeep speeding up behind me going way quicker than the 80-kilometre speed limit,” witness Annie di Silva told ABC News after the incident. “I see [the car] aggressively swerve and clip the back of the white Camry, and at this point the Camry span out onto the median strip. It then takes off in the other direction away from the hospital.”
Fortunately, no other motorists, nor the police officers inside the Camry, were injured in the incident.
